Kalamazoo Country Club was in need of a new pro shop as well as an expanded facility in which to house their new golf carts. The challenge was to find the space required, as the Club is land-locked on all sides within the City of Kalamazoo limits.

Partnered with Eckert/Wordell Architects, Kalleward Group presented the solution to their problem. Demolish the existing structure and construct the new facility with underground storage for the golf carts.

In addition to the design concerns for form and function, the overall finish of the building must compliment the Club’s main building located across the parking lot. Extensive finish carpentry work was required both on the interior and exterior finishes. Another challenge presented to Kalleward Group was the fact the entire project, demolition to completion, was to start in October at the end of the golf season and be ready for use in the following spring.

During the entire time of the project, consideration and care was taken for the safety and comfort of the Country Club’s members, as the building is located just off the first tee. Due to tight staging conditions, the scheduling of material deliveries and subcontractor activities were key in the construction of this
building.
