When Kalamazoo College enlisted the services of Kalleward Group in renovating their fine arts building, they wanted to make the building a more comfortable home for the arts and music departments housed there. The ventilation system was old and inadequate, and the halls and classrooms needed a general facelift.

The other main priority in the renovation was to upgrade the acoustics of the college's auditorium. The college brought in acoustical consultants from Colorado, whose plans for improving the sound qualities of the hall called for extreme accuracy on the part of the builders.
