"Lights, Camera, Action..." was the call for the addition of the Suzanne D. Parish Theatre. Kalleward Group was chosen to construct the Frank Lloyd Wright-influenced addition to the Carver Center, located in downtown Kalamazoo.

Due to tight constraints of the site, the 20,500 square-foot addition of the multi-purpose theatre proved to be a challenging endeavor. One lane of Northbound traffic into the downtown area was closed to facilitate the construction of the "black box". Staging of the project required precise deliveries of materials and services. The theatre structure is constructed of concrete foundations, a steel frame, and a masonry envelope. Built for under $3 million, the theatre space incorporates several miles of rigging and wiring for the stage equipment and theatrical lighting. For lighting, the theatre incorporates a wire grid platform, which rises above the actual theatre floor. Constructed in twelve months, the theatre offers the Civic Players another unique venue to show their talents.
