The Parkstone Development Group selected Kalleward Group as Construction Manager to join the Owner, Parkstone Development, and the Architect as the project construction team. A fourth member was added when First of America Bank decided to lease the entire building. The size of the addition had to be increased and designed to meet the specific needs of First of America.

Kalleward Group provided expertise in preparation of budget estimates and in the selection of materials and subcontractors. This project required careful consideration of a number of facets. The historical integrity of the main building had to be preserved even though the two original wings were totally removed and replaced with a new structure. The joining of the new addition to the three existing floors of the historical YWCA required proper alignment both functionally and architecturally.

The project was completed on schedule and within 1/2% of the original budget. The final results have been gratifying to the entire project team. A historic building in downtown Kalamazoo has been preserved and returned to useful life.
