Constructed on a tight site, this 122,000-square-foot project incorporates
the old with the new. The project focuses on the preservation of
an existing three-story gymnasium façade. A further challenge
to the project are the numerous utilities at the site and the
coordination required for timely deliveries. In addition to
the intricate network of utilities, the site was a complicated one, which
included the existing football stadium to one side, a highway thoroughfare
to another, a steep sloped hill to another, and
the University's Physical Plant to another. The main entrance to this
historical building bridges an electrical substation that powers a portion
of the campus.
