Kalleward Group was contracted as the General Contractor for the new addition and renovations at First United Methodist Church in Plainwell.

This project presented a great opportunity for Kalleward Group to demonstrate how value-added engineering really works. The church fund drive was not what they had hoped, and not wanting to scale back the construction project, they turned to the Kalleward staff for economical solutions to material substitutions and selection, all while not delaying the overall project.

Another challenge was that the new addition to be constructed abutted the existing sanctuary's foundation. That foundation is better known as a Michigan Basement. Protecting the existing structure while building the new foundation was a key element in providing the church with the highest quality finish possible.
